Taman Mini Indonesia Indah or commonly abbreviated with TMII is one of the tourist attractions are located in East Jakarta. Built on a land area of 150 hectares, Taman Mini Indonesia Indah is one of the largest recreation park in Indonesia.
Taman Mini Indonesia Indah is a recreational park that contains a picture of the culture of the archipelago. Here, you can see a miniature lake with islands of Indonesia from Sabang to Merauke. Not only that, there are many distinctive culture of each province in Indonesia that is exhibited here ranging from traditional dances, traditional clothes, houses of worship every official religion in Indonesia, various museums and others.
Development plans initiated from a meeting at the home of Suharto, the former president of Indonesia, on Jalan Cendana No. 8, Jakarta, on March 13, 1970. During the meeting, Siti Hartinah or more fondly known as Ibu Tien, wife of former President Suharto proposed to be built a location which includes cultural tours to raise the pride of the people of Indonesia to the culture of the archipelago.
Then began the project a miniature of Indonesia 'Indonesia Indah' under Yayasan Harapan Indah. Construction began in 1972 and on April 20, 1975, officially opened TMII. In 1991, was made the mascot for the tourist attractions in the form of Hanuman puppet character named Nitra (Anjani Putra).

- Pavilion Area
In the Pavilion area, you can see the culture of the 34 provinces in Indonesia. Each province has a pavilion featuring a building or custom homes, traditional dress, wedding dress, typical weapons to household appliances that are used everyday.
In every pavilion there is a stage for performances of traditional dances, ceremonies and musical performances are also typical of each region. Cultural performances is held on Sundays, when the number of visitors has increased compared to normal days.

In the years 1975 - 2000, the Pavilion area contains a miniature culture of 27 provinces in Indonesia. Until in 2002, when East Timor separated from Indonesia, anjungannya changed its name to Museum of East Timor. Moreover, with increasing number of provinces to 34 provinces in Indonesia, also built new platforms for Banten, Bangka Belitung, West Papua, West Sulawesi, North Maluku, Gorontalo and Riau Islands.
